Former Packers say despite retirement, Driver likely isn't going anywhere

GREEN BAY -- Packers season is over, but the big news on Thursday, January 31st is that Packers wide receiver Donald Driver is expected to announce his retirement at an event coming up on Wednesday, February 6th in the Lambeau Field Atrium.

Those who watch TV in Wisconsin already know Donald Driver off the field from his Wisconsin DOT safety commercials and McDonald's ads.

Former Green Bay Packers LeRoy Butler and Gary Ellerson on 1250 radio's The Big Show say Driver won't be going anywhere. Both know about capitalizing in retirement after playing for the Pack.

"He's going to continue to make money in the state because he stayed here in the state of Wisconsin," the two said on the radio.

Ellerson says he sees Driver's options as similar to NFL on FOX's Michael Strahan, who has had great opportunities related and unrelated to football.

"He's got a vibrant personality, great smile. He's always available, always accessible, so I think he can do anything," Ellerson said.

Driver's agent says Driver is exploring options right now, but wouldn't elaborate.

In a phone interview with FOX6's partners in Green Bay, Driver says he's open to anything that may come his way.

"Whatever God has in store for me in the next phase of my life, I'm willing to follow. There's other things out there and I'm ready for it," Driver said.
