MILWAUKEE (WITI)-- Game 3 of the World Series between the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals was quite the see saw at Busch Stadium on Saturday night.
The Cardinals quickly got their home crowd cheering in the bottom of the 2nd, when Matt Holiday and Yadier Molina each added RBI singles to make it 2-0 Cardinals.
But Boston would battle back, adding a run in the 5th then tying it at 2 in the top of the 6th with a Daniel Nava RBI single.
The Cardinals would take the lead again in the bottom of the 7th when Matt Holliday ripped a double scoring Matt Carpenter and Carlos Beltran, making it 4-2.
Boston would tie the game up again in the top of the 8th with Nava adding a Fielder's Choice RBI and Xander Bogaerts adding an RBI single.
The game would come to a strange end in the bottom of the 9th. Cardinals' Jon Jay reached on a Fielder's Choice out. Yadier Molina is called out at home, but Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia over throws it to 3rd trying to get Allen Craig out. Craig heads for home and is called safe due to an interference error by Boston's 3rd baseman Will Middlebrooks. St.Louis wins it 5-4 and takes a 2-1 lead in the series.
Game 4 is Sunday at 7:15 pm (CT) right here on FOX6.
