Buddies, Yovani Gallardo, former Brewers pitcher Marcum meet again

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- When the New York Mets played the Milwaukee Brewers 11 days ago at Miller Park, it was a homecoming for former Brewers pitcher Shaun Marcum. On top of that, he went up against Yovani Gallardo. The two became close when Marcum pitched for Milwaukee.

The business of baseball separated the men, but it will never put an end to their friendship. They still pull for each other through thick and thin, both on and off the field.

Both pitchers are big time competitors, but they are playing a kids game. That's why baseball players have been called the boys of summer.

The two men had a friendly wager going on the July 7th game -- the winner getting a steak dinner. On this night, Gallardo was able to beat Marcum, his Mets buddy.

Unfortunately, Marcum had to undergo season-ending surgery to correct numbness and tingling in his pitching arm.

However, there is no doubt his buddy Gallardo will lend Marcum all the support he can.
