Brewers slammed in St. Louis 7-6

ST. LOUIS -- David Freese smacked a grand slam home run to highlight a 5 run 1st inning against losing pitcher Wily Peralta as the Cardinals held off the hapless Milwaukee Brewers, 7-6 on Friday night in St. Louis.
While the 1st place Redbirds have won 13 of their last 16, the cellar-dwelling Brewers have fallen 10 1/2 games back with their 13th loss in the last 15 games; they're 1 and 7 on the road trip. St. Louis boasts a 7-1 record against Milwaukee so this season.

To their credit, Ron Roenicke's men battled back thanks to a pair of 3-run homers by Aramis Ramirez off winning pitcher Jaime Garcia, but the bottom four spots in the lineup were a combined 0 for 15. Game two of the series is Saturday night at 6:15.
