Brewers deck Cards, 5-3

ST. LOUIS -- The Brewers avoided a 3 game sweep at the hands of the Cardinals Thursday night in St.Louis; in the process, they dropped their nemesis into a 1st place tie with the Pirates. Sean Halton drove in 3 runs, 2 with his 2nd career homer, and Tyler Thornburg pitched 6 strong innings for the victory; this time, Milwaukee's bullpen held up its' end of the bargain.
After finishing a 6 game road trip with a 3-3 record, the Brewers open their final homestand of the season Friday night against Cincinnati.
