Brewers can't get out of funk, lose 4-1

MILWAUKEE -- The National League Central Division leading Brewers are letting the Cards, Reds and Pirates all maintain hope for the second half of the season. Milwaukee lost for the 8th time in its last 9 games on Wednesday night, 4-1 to Philadelphia.

Phillies pitchers Roberto Hernandez and Jonathan Papelbon needed only a combined 93 pitches against a Brewers lineup missing Ryan Braun and Jonathan Lucroy.

Kyle Lohse allowed a solo homer in the first inning to Chase Utley, who has had a huge series, and a two-run homer to Jimmy Rollins in the sixth.

The series concludes Thursday afternoon, with the Brewers trying avoid being on the wrong end of a four game sweep.
