Brewers break scoreless streak and beat Cardinals
ST. LOUIS (WITI) -- For 32 straight innings, the Milwaukee Brewers failed to score a run. In the last 26 innings of the streak, they failed to even get a runner to 3rd base. But on Sunday, after 7 innings of misery, the Brewers ended the scoreless streak in route to a 4-3 win in 10 innings against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Ryan Braun broke the streak with a 2 run home run to right field in the 8th inning cutting the Cardinals lead to 3-2.
In the 9th, the Brewers scored again when Yuniesky Betancourt doubled to right center driving in Carlos Gomez to tie the game at 3 and force extra innings.
The runs didn't stop there as Jonathan Lucroy came up in the 10th and blasted a solo home run to give the Brewers their first lead of the series at 4-3.
Burke Badenhop got Carlos Beltran to ground out to shortstop in the bottom of the 10th to seal the win.
The Brewers have Monday off and then host the World Champion San Francisco Giants for a 3 game series beginning Tuesday night.
