Braves nip Brewers, 3-2

ATLANTA -- The Brewers battled the team with the best record in the National League right down to the bottom of the ninth inning before Andrelton Simmons drove home the winning tally in a 3-2 Braves victory.

Tyler Thornburg turned in his seventh straight strong start, covering seven innings, allowing a pair of runs, and striking out a personal-best eight batters. He gave way to Brandon Kintzler in the eighth and then Donovan Hand in the ninth.  Hand took the loss.

Jeff Bianchi did hit his first home run of the season for Milwaukee.  The Brewers wrap up their series in Atlanta Wednesday and then play four games in New York to conclude the season.
