MEQUON (WITI) -- FOX6's Tom Pipines takes a closer look at the Homestead High School boy's tennis team!
The student-athletes on the Homestead High School boy's tennis team have learned the mark of a real winner is the net result of what their lives amount to away from the sport.
The Highlanders are hot in part because they follow the lead of 34th year coach Jackie Egelhoff. Egelhoff's girls teams have won five state titles, but in the end, it is Egelhoff's impact on the student-athletes as people that makes her a champion.
Egelhoff's players say the message Egelhoff serves up is a winner: camaraderie, chemistry, caring for each other -- each are hallmarks of her Highlanders teams.
Tennis is the vehicle Egelhoff has driven to touch many -- including the special needs kids she coaches.
