"Amazing Sunrise Rotary Race" is fundraiser for West Bend Rotary
WEST BEND (WITI) -- Folks in West Bend went "Beyond the Game" when they came up with a competition to raise funds for worthwhile programs in the city. The "Amazing Sunrise Rotary Race" is inspired by the popular "Amazing Race" television show, and takes place this Saturday, September 28th.
Unlike a marathon or fun run, this race combines challenges that are physical, mental and sometimes require a high degree of creativity.
Teams of two to four people scatter around the West Bend area in an effort to solve a variety of challenges in hopes of winning the grand prize.
This unique one-day event begins with 60 teams and ends with one team taking home the $2,000 cash prize.
The race will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.
All 60 teams will compete in six events before reaching the first checkpoint, where almost half of the contestants will be eliminated. The top 32 teams will then complete an additional four events in the afternoon before reaching another checkpoint where the final 3 teams will be decided.
Additionally, one of the 57 previously eliminated teams will be drawn to run in the final leg of the race and have the opportunity to bring home $2000! (All team members must be present to qualify.)
There will be food, beverages and entertainment at the Regner Pavilion where family and friends can catch legs of the race and watch the finale live!
This race also functions as a fundraiser for West Bend Sunrise Rotary to aid in their collective service to West Bend and Washington County.
