Admirals fall to the Iowa Wild, 3-1

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee Admirals lost on Friday night 3-1 against the Iowa Wild at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. It snapped a five-game winning streak for the Ads over Iowa and marked their first ever loss to the Wild

Filip Forsberg was the only Admiral to get a goal as he scored on the power-play in the third period. It was 39th power play goal this year, just two shy of the Ads total for all of last season.

The first period started off slow but with 2:41 to go, Kyle Medvec passed the puck from the top of the left circle to Jim McKenzie, who then blasted the puck from the left dot past Marek Mazanec to put first goal on the board.

Both goaltenders were able to hold off the opposing team from scoring in the second period. Mazanec saved nine shots, while John Curry stopped five, bringing the total shots taken 23-12 in favor of Iowa after 40 minutes.

Just 6:21 into the third period, Wild left wing Erik Haula scored his 10th goal of the season putting them ahead 2-0.

Milwaukee cut the lead in half with 10:14 to go. Taylor Beck passed from the right dot to Bryan Rodney between the circles who gave it to Forsberg at the left dot and one timed it into the back of the net bringing the score to 2-1.

However, just 12 seconds later Haula struck again on a great individual effort. He held off the Ads defense with one arm and then with the other he swiped the puck just inside the right post giving them a 3-1 lead and stopping any momentum the Admirals had earned on the Forsberg tally.

The Admirals head to Chicago for the next two games and will play at home again on Friday, February 21st at 7:00pm with a post-game concert from Cheap Trick.
