"It's all about the kids:" One of the largest fundraising regattas in nation took place in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- It started in the late 1990s  by a group of sailors who wanted to get in one last sail before putting their boats away for the winter. Now, it's one of the largest fundraising regattas in the nation and it's happening right here in Milwaukee.

Louie's 18th Last Regatta attracts hundreds of boats and thousands of sailors every year. They come from all over Lake Michigan -- Chicago, Muskegon, Michigan, Sheboygan and Sturgeon Bay. Each one of them sets sail in hopes of having fun raising money for some very special children.

Louie's Last Regatta has raised over $1,088,000 for Children's Hospital of Wisconsin since 1999. Children's is ranked number four in the nation - number one in preemie and newborn care and number three in emergency care by Parent's Magazine. Louie's is working hard toward that second million raised with the 18th Last Regatta this year!
