Zocco remains jailed as search for Dwyer continues

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- 27-year-old Kelly Dwyer has been missing for two weeks and the man believed to have last seen her appeared in court Saturday morning, October 26th on new charges unrelated to the case.

Kris Zocco

38-year-old Kris Zocco has been charged with 17 counts of child pornography. A criminal complaint says the man had sex videos of children as young as two and three years old. The state recommended bail be set between $500,000 and $750,000.

"This defendant is a very key suspect in the missing person and probably homicide investigation so I think also poses some significant flight risk," said Assistant D.A. Danielle Chojnacki.

Zocco's attorney, Robert Levine, disagreed saying, "under the facts of this case it's ridiculous because he has not been convicted of anything."

Despite the fact that authorities believe Zocco was the last person to be seen with Dwyer, as well as other major drug charges, the judge set bail for $25,000. Zocco was ordered to give up his passport, be subjected to 24-hour GPS monitoring and forbidden to leave the state.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee Police searched a Menomonee Falls landfill on Saturday morning. Authorities say nothing related to Dwyer's disappearance has been found.

Volunteers on Milwaukee's east side are also helping in the search for Dwyer, walking along the Oak Leaf Trail, just feet away from the last place the woman was allegedly seen.

"We have to start somewhere and the best place to start is where she was last seen," said Stephanie Quinn. "If it was my family, my sister, my niece, I would want someone to help us and that's what we're here to do."

Volunteer Paula Patoka joined the search and says the case brings back memories of her sister who has been missing for 25 years.

"I think of ending this for the family. I don't want them to go through what we've been through," said Patoka. "You want this to end, but you don't want to find what you think you're going to find."

Detectives will resume searching the landfill Sunday morning and volunteers say they plan on expanding the search for Dwyer on the east side in the hopes of finding any sort of clues related to her disappearance.

Dwyer's father told FOX6 he is grateful for all the people who have helped try to find his daughter.
