Woman critically hurt in rollover crash; alcohol and speed believed to be factors
WASHINGTON CO. (WITI) -- A 25-year-old Town of Erin woman is in critical but stable condition following a one-vehicle rollover crash.
It happened on CTH K north of Waterford Road in the Town of Hartford Monday night, October 20th.
According to officials, several motorists came upon the car on its roof in the east ditch line of CTH K around 10 p.m. After checking the vehicle and surrounding area, they located the unresponsive female operator that had been ejected from her vehicle.
The Hartford Fire Department and Rescue were dispatched to the scene. Flight For Life out of Waukesha was requested to respond as well.
Hartford Rescue transported the woman to Aurora Medical Center in Hartford and she was subsequently flown to Aurora Hospital in the Town of Summit by Flight For Life, where she is listed in critical but stable condition.
The investigation revealed that the operator was traveling northbound on CTH K at a high rate of speed when she drove onto the gravel shoulder and eventually the ditch, where her vehicle struck an embankment, became airborne, and then struck a tree.
The vehicle came to rest on its roof.
Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors.
The operator was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 2ndOffense.
