Wisconsin enjoys free fishing weekend

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- This weekend the DNR has waived fees for outdoor activities such as fishing and ATV riding.

Lakes across Wisconsin were busy Saturday morning, June 1st, as anglers hit the water in hopes of reeling in the big one.

Fishing rules such as a limit on the number and size you can keep, as well as any season you must release certain species, still apply.

Organizers say the free fishing weekend is a great way for people to enjoy activities they may not otherwise be able to afford.

The DNR also hold a free fishing weekend in the winter. Next year it will be January 18th and 19th.
