Wisconsin Department of Revenue officials announce new Wisconsin Lottery director

MADISON — Wisconsin Department of Revenue Secretary Richard Chandler has chosen a new lottery administrator.

Chandler announced Tuesday, December 22nd that Pat Lashore, a DOR policy adviser and former deputy lottery administrator, will take over for Mike Edmonds on January 10th.

Edmonds told his staff in November he planned to resign December 18th. He did not say why he was leaving.

Asked to elaborate earlier this month on why Edmonds chose to step down, DOR spokeswoman Stephanie Marquis said political appointees get moved around and replaced.

Edmonds asked the state Justice Department in October to review a December 2007 Megabucks drawing to determine whether it was rigged as part of an alleged multi-state scam by the former security director for the firm that generates the winning numbers. The DOJ has confirmed it is investigating.
