Wisconsin baby recovered unharmed in Michigan

BARABOO (AP) — Authorities say a baby taken by his non-custodial father in south central Wisconsin has been found unharmed in Michigan.

Sauk County sheriff's officials say the 3-month-old child was taken from his home in the Town of Honey Creek early Thursday while a relative was babysitting. Sheriff Chip Meister says his deputies worked with state police in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan to find the father and child.

The father was taken into custody in Manttawan, Michigan by state police Thursday afternoon. The baby was found in the vehicle unharmed.

The father is currently in the Van Buren County Jail in Paw Paw, Mich., awaiting extradition proceedings.
