Wis. inmate accused of plot to blackmail owner of Menards
FOND DU LAC (AP) -- A Wisconsin prison inmate is accused of plotting to extort $9 million from John Menard, owner of Menards home improvement stores.
54-year-old Kristine Flynn has been charged in Fond du Lac County with nine felonies.
Flynn is currently an inmate at Taycheedah Correctional Institution.
According to the criminal complaint, Flynn crafted a plan to plant child pornography on Menard's computer from her prison cell. She would then threaten to go to the media unless Menard paid her $9 million.
When Flynn allegedly tried to enlist help from people on the outside, they turned her in.
According to the complaint, police say no photos exist on Menard's computer and that Menard has no idea who Flynn is.
Online court records do not list a defense attorney.
