Willie Fowler charged in shooting death of Derrick Ashford

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- 22-year-old Willie Fowler is facing one count of felony murder for the shooting death of 21-year-old Derrick Ashford. Ashford was shot and killed just before 11:00 p.m. in the 4300 block of N. 26th Street on Wednesday, July 24th.

According to the criminal complaint, Ashford was shot and killed inside a residence after Fowler and two other suspects forced their way into the home. The complaint alleges that an altercation broke out in the residence, and during that altercation Ashford was shot in the stomach.

According to the complaint, results of an autopsy revealed that Ashford was shot with a shotgun.  The Medical Examiner says the shotgun blast pierced Ashford’s right artery and vein, also his left artery and vein and the small intestine.

If convicted, Fowler could face up to 35 years in prison.
