Whistleblowers call for removal of Veterans Affairs watchdog to President Obama in Wisconsin
TOMAH -- A man who helped expose over-prescription of opiates at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tomah wants to personally deliver a letter calling for the removal of the VA's chief watchdog to President Barack Obama in Wisconsin.
The letter from a group of whistleblowers across the country, called VA Truth Tellers, argues that interim VA Inspector General Richard Griffin is unable to properly do the job.
The VA Office of Inspector General serves as an independent watchdog to investigate fraud, mismanagement and abuse at the agency. Press-Gazette Media reports that the group claims Griffin has gone after whistleblowers instead of the problems they uncover.
VA Truth Tellers member Ryan Honl hopes to deliver the letter to Obama when he's in La Crosse on Thursday.
