'Voice of the Fatherless Child' surprises families in need with a Christmas they'll always remember
MILWAUKEE -- Some families in Milwaukee got a nice holiday surprise on Saturday, December 12th. The group called the "Voice of the Fatherless Child" brought the gift of Christmas to families in need.
Saturday's event was part of the groups "Single Parent Christmas" initiative where ten families are surprised across the city. The group says the goal is to help bring them the full holiday experience.
"I've seen a number of organizations give out a gift and I commend them because they reach a lot of people, but I want a person to have that Christmas experience where the live tree, the decorations, the gifts -- and it's something that they'll always remember," said Monte Mabra, Voice of the Fatherless Child founder.
The event has been going on for the past eight years, thanks in part to local businesses that have joined in on the effort.
