Vacationing Milwaukee woman was at LAX just before shooting

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Jennifer Christopher of Milwaukee got to Los Angeles International Airport about ten minutes before a man pulled out an assault rifle and began firing shots inside Terminal 3.

Christopher told FOX6 News she had been vacationing in Los Angeles.  She sent pictures of what she could see as everyone was being kept away from the terminal where the shooting happened.

Christopher said security did not tell anyone why they were being held back. But she saw a strong police presence and helicopters. For those inside the airport at the time of the shooting, Christopher said they were kept in a holding pattern for more than an hour.

"We were actually trying to get to the rental car shuttle area and a lot of us were just waiting outside for that. And all the sudden they said, "You must move down." And then I guess someone got a text message on their phone from USA Today that there was a shooting that had happened in the terminal next to us. I was shocked because you'd never think there'd be a shooting when you're at the airport," said Christopher.

Christopher says she and her husband ended up leaving the airport and walking about two miles to the rental car office. They were able to leave the airport and call home to let everyone know they're okay.
