U.S. Bank will display fireworks show on Milw. lakefront July 3rd

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- U.S. Bank will host a fireworks display on the Milwaukee Lakefront on Wednesday, July 3. The extravaganza begins at approximately 9:30 p.m.

The fireworks show will be launched from two barges on Lake Michigan, off the lakefront of Veterans Park. The fireworks will not be rescheduled if there is severe weather.

The U.S. Bank July Fireworks show will feature more than 10,000 pounds of fireworks, with 5,000 igniters lighting more than 20,000 shells. A state-of-the-art electronic system will ensure proper timing of the colorful and noisy display. It will be connected by more than eight miles of wire.

This year’s fireworks show will feature three distinct sections each with its own finale, the first showcasing a synchronized firing of shells to highlight precision timing, followed by simultaneous mass effects. The third section will build up toward the finale. The grand finale will feature stunning low-level and high-level effects. This year's display will feature new shells not seen in last year's show plus some old favorites.

Best seats can be found in Veterans Park and Juneau Park. Handicap parking is available at the north end of Veterans Park. As parking is at a premium, going further out and catching a number of downtown buses to the lakefront, or taking the Summerfest shuttle along Wisconsin Avenue may be the best option. For details on the best bus route, please call the Milwaukee County Transit System at 414-344-6711.

Due to pedestrian congestion, drop offs are discouraged along Lincoln Memorial Drive as it will be closed to traffic. Restricted boating areas on Lake Michigan will also be enforced during the fireworks show.
