Two men accused of homicide are now "facing the music"

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A Milwaukee County inmate is charged with homicide after prosecutors say they found a musical admission.

A deadly North side shooting, put two men behind bars. Court records reveal charges came with the help of a rap song.

In early June, 2014, Police say two men caused chaos at the corner of 16th and North in Milwaukee. A drive-by shooting that left one man wounded, and another dead.

36-year-old Howard Davis, and 34-year-old Jarmel Chisem were arrested and housed in the Milwaukee County Jail. They were held on unrelated charges -- until a break in the case.

According to documents, it was a lyrical slip-up that led to much harsher charges. Records show while in the lunchroom, another inmate heard Davis rapping about the homicide and charges being dropped. He told officers Chisem was also laughing and bragging about the incident.

With the help of a search warrant, police found a sheet of paper and handwritten lyrics referencing the homicide.

A rap song that is keeping both Davis, and Chisem behind bars -- and now facing the music.

If convicted of the charges related to the homicide, the two men could face more than 80 years behind bars.
