Two injured following rollover crash near 35th and Pierce

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a serious injury motor vehicle crash that happened on the 35th Street viaduct shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday, February 26th.

According to police, a Chevy Cobalt was traveling southbound across the viaduct at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, struck the guardrail, and fell over the edge.

The car landed on its side on a basketball court between S. 35th and S. 36th, in the 700 block.  After hitting the ground the car tumbled before coming to a rest on its roof.

The car was occupied by a 24-year-old Mequon man and a 31-year-old Milwaukee woman.  Both occupants were injured and both are currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

The man is in serious condition and the woman is in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing and police are working to determine which occupant was driving at the time of the crash.
