Two homes damaged after pickup truck catches fire

FOND DU LAC (WITI) -- Fond du Lac fire officials say two homes were damaged after a pickup truck caught fire Sunday, July 14th just after 11:00 a.m.

It happened at 115 E. 12th Street.

Officials say upon their arrival at the scene, they discovered a pickup truck fully involved in fire, and beginning to impinge on the houses on either side.

Officials say the truck was parked in the driveway, which is shared by two residences.

The truck's owner was alerted to the fire by a neighbor and a call to 911 was made.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire before it caused too much damage to the nearby homes, according to Fire Chief Peter O'Leary.

Officials say the fire appears to have been a result of smoldering ashes that were in two plastic containers in the rear bed of the truck.  The fire was extinguished and there were no injuries.
