Tropical Storm Isaac could boost orange juice prices
FLORIDA -- People worried about the Republican National Convention aren't the only ones keeping their eyes on Tropical Storm Isaac. Commodities traders are paying close attention, too.
Though the storm isn't expected to hit Florida until Monday, August 27th -- we're already seeing an impact on orange juice prices.
According to the Wall Street Journal, there's little chance of significant damage to the crop, and in fact, the oranges could use some rain.
Even so, orange juice for September delivery ended more than six-percent higher Wednesday, August 22nd. That's the third straight trading day prices surged.
Forecasters say Tropical Storm Isaac could be Hurricane Isaac by Friday, August 24th.
Florida Governor Rick Scott said the state is taking precautions in advance of the storm.
