Timothy Dolan headed to Rome for Cardinal elevation
MILWAUKEE -- Former Milwaukee/current New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan left for Rome Sunday. He'll spend a week at the Vatican participating in a spiritual journey before being elevated to the role of Cardinal.
21 other clergymen are being elevated to Cardinal during the ceremony.
"This is a tribute to the entire community, and I'm glad that the Catholic family particularly feels excited about it, but I'm getting that impression. When policemen, when even garbage collectors stop and wish me congratulations, that means the world, and I'm glad they're sharing in my joy," Dolan said.
Current Milwaukee Archbishop Jerome Listecki will also be in Rome to attend the ceremony on February 18th.
