Three-legged puppy, Bella has been adopted!
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) announced Thursday, August 1st that a three-month-old Dachshund/Chihuahua named Bella has been adopted! Bella is a three-legged puppy, who severely fractured her leg when she was accidentally dropped in her home by a young child. The family was unable to afford the care she needed, so the dog was brought to WHS.
Bella was adopted by a woman named Jennifer from Waukesha!
"It was so sad that the little girl dropped Bella, but accidents do happen, and we're just really happy to be here to help the community when accidents do happen to animals," said Angela Speed with WHS.
The cost of Bella’s surgery and medical care was expected to reach about $2,500.
“The cost includes things like her initial x-rays, and the assessment Bella had to have in order to determine how significant that injury was, and then the surgery, pain medication, and her stay here,” said Speed.
Just four days after the surgery, Bella was already up and running around. However, the veterinarians were limiting her playing time so she can heal properly.
WHS was seeking contributions made for Bella to go directly toward her care. Any additional funds were to be used to help treat special needs animals recovering from medical illnesses at WHS.
