Three injured in head-on crash in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN (WITI) -- Sheboygan police officials say three people were injured in a head-on crash on Thursday, April 11th.

It happened around 1:00 Thursday afternoon near the 2200 block of New Jersey Ave.

Officials say all those injured were treated at the hospital and released.

Officials say the crash occurred after a 1999 Ford Explorer driven by a 32-year-old man was observed by witnesses driving left of the center lane at a high rate of speed.

A second vehicle was headed westbound in that lane and was struck head on.

The driver of the Explorer fled the scene, according to police, but was taken into custody at his residence in the 1600 block of Geele Avenue. He was taken to the hospital for treatment, and then jailed on suspicion of causing injury while under the influence of alcohol.

Officials say the man faces other charges, including potential hit and run charges.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 28-year-old man and his 19-year-old female passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
