Three flee from police after crashing stolen vehicle near 51st & Center

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Police are searching for three people in connection with a pursuit and crash that occurred late Monday night, March 23rd. The crash occurred near N. 51st and W. Center.

According to police, a vehicle was reported stolen from a Wauwatosa resident in the area of N. 62nd and W. North Avenue shortly before 11:45 p.m. The theft was witnessed by the owner. Police say the vehicle was not running and did not have the keys in it at the time of the theft.

When Wauwatosa police arrived on scene, an officer spotted the stolen vehicle headed eastbound on W. Center at N. 63rd, and attempted to make a traffic stop. At that time, the vehicle fled eastbound, going through a green light at N. 60th.



Wauwatosa police tell FOX6 News the officer terminated the pursuit near N. 57th and W. Center.

Police say the stolen vehicle continued east and then ran a red light at N. 51st and W. Center -- striking a northbound vehicle. The vehicle that was traveling northbound then struck a third vehicle.

The Wauwatosa police officer saw the crash and proceeded to the scene, where three people jumped out of the stolen vehicle and fled on foot.

One person was transported to the hospital for injuries.
