Three dead, two hurt in crash on Sunny Slope Rd. in New Berlin

NEW BERLIN -- New Berlin police say three people are dead, and another two are hurt after a two-car crash at Sunny Slope and Glencove Parkway. The wreck happened shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday.

According to neighbors, a car was driving erratically north on Sunny Slope. It apparently veered off the road, slamming into a car stopped at a stop sign at a subdivision entrance. "The person came down on Sunny Slope weaving beforehand, so something was wrong either mechanically or health issues, and the car (that was struck) was at the wrong place at the wrong time," one neighbor said.

Four people were in the car that got struck. Three of them died on the scene. The fourth was hurt.

Two people were in the car that slammed into the second vehicle. They survived the wreck, but one had to be taken to Froedtert Hospital by Flight for Life.

The cause of the crash has yet to be determined.

Throughout the morning Sunday, stunned neighbors looked on as crews cleaned up after the crash. Neighbors say there were no signs the striking vehicle braked. "It's really, really sad. I mean, it makes you think when you are driving to really pay attention to what is going on, because that could have been one of our neighbors," neighbor Amy Meier said.

Names of the victims have not yet been released, nor the conditions of the survivors.
