Thousands turn out for Labor Day parade, Labor Fest 2016

MILWAUKEE -- Labor Fest is taking place on Monday, September 5th at Maier Festival Park on Milwaukee's lakefront.

The festival runs from noon until 5:00 p.m. -- and features live music, a car show and activities for kids. Admission is free.

Labor Day parade in downtown Milwaukee

Labor Fest kicked off with a parade starting at Zeidler Square Park and ending at the Summerfest grounds. It's an opportunity for labor groups of all kinds to show unity and pride in their craft.

Organizers are asking anyone who plans to attend Labor Fest to bring a new pair of socks. Those will be donated to Milwaukee Public Schools and local shelters.
