Suspects sought: Man, woman shot in a home near 23rd and Hopkins

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police are looking for two suspects after a scary shooting on the city's north side. Police say the suspects walked into a home and started shooting.

It happened near 23rd & Hopkins around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, September 9th.

According to police, a 38-year-old Milwaukee woman and a 54-year-old Milwaukee man were shot during a drug-related dispute.

Authorities say the woman was at home when the man, who was an acquaintance, knocked on her door and asked to be let inside.

After opening the door for him, two other men came chasing after him, and shots were fired.

One bullet hit the woman in her left knee, the other struck her friend in the head.

The victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. They are expected to survive.

There are no suspects in custody and police say their investigation is ongoing.

"I was shocked! Trying to figure what happened -- how, why?" Michael Super said.

Super works at a convenience store nearby. He knows the woman who was shot.

"She`s a good person. She goes to church every Sunday. She send her kids, little kids off to school," Super said.

Quntella and Shanna Moore live near the home where the shooting occurred. They moved to the neighborhood last month, and they say Tuesday night's incident has them feeling uneasy.

"That worries me because I have kids over here and I have nieces and nephews so they need to stop the killing," Moore said.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to contact Milwaukee police.
