Surviving members of The Monkees staging summer tour

(CNN) -- The surviving members of The Monkees are staging a tour this summer.

The 24-date trek will take the band across the States, from the first stop of Port Chester, New York, on July 15, to the final gig in Portland, Oregon, on August 18.

Michael Nesmith, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork, who lost their bandmate Davy Jones in February 2012, played a reunion tour toward the end of that year and the response was "euphoric," Dolenz told Rolling Stone. "It was pretty apparent there was a demand for another one."

This tour, called "A Midsummer's Night with the Monkees," will highlight the made-for-TV group's hits in chronological order, meaning shows will begin with early favorites like "I'm A Believer" before concluding with material from their later albums.

While last year's reunion tour often honored Jones' memory, "A Midsummer's Night With the Monkees" won't be quite as reflective.

"This time we probably won't lean so heavily on the David situation," Dolenz told RS. "I think we have to move on. Everybody has to move on. He'll always be remembered and acknowledged, but possibly not as much as on that particular tour. We will, of course, still perform 'Daydream Believer' and all the other hits."
