Wisconsin State Fair 2013 wraps up
WEST ALLIS (WITI) -- Sunday, August 11th marked the final day of the 2013 Wisconsin State Fair -- and it was Veterans and Military Recognition Day!
Justin Steinbach has greeted Fair-goers for the past 11 days.
"From 8 in the morning until, 4 in the afternoon -- eight-hour shifts," Steinbach said.
Steinbach says like many of us, he's sad to see the Fair come to an end.
On Sunday, veterans, military personnel and their families received FREE admission to the Fair when presenting a military ID.
Marine Jacob England says he appreciates the gesture that allowed for quality family time.
"There are still troops overseas. There are still people fighting for our freedom," England said.
Many showed up Sunday to grab a cream puff and some of the many food items on a stick, before Fair vendors packed up until next year.
The 2013 Wisconsin State Fair runs until 10:00 p.m. Sunday. Country star Miranda Lambert headlines on Sunday night.
