Standoff with West Bend man ends peacefully

WEST BEND (WITI) -- A standoff with a 46-year-old man in West Bend ends peacefully late Friday night, April 26th.

Police were called to the 300 block of S. Main St. neighborhood shortly after 8 p.m. on Friday after a citizen indicated there was a man bleeding from his head, claiming to have been shot, and who locked himself in his apartment. When police arrived, the man refused any help and told officers that he was armed and threatened violence if anyone entered his residence.

The Special Response Team responded and began negotiations with the man. Just before 11 p.m., the man exited his apartment and was taken into custody. There were no additional injuries to the suspect or any officers.

The investigation showed the man had not been shot and his injury was accidental.

The man was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Justice, and a Probation Violation.
