St. Marcus announces change in school lunch/breakfast policy

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- St. Marcus School announced Friday, September 12th an amendment to its policy for serving meals to students under the National School Lunch/School Breakfast Programs for the 2014-2015 school year.

All students will be served lunch and breakfast at no charge at St. Marcus School located at 2215 N Palmer St., and St. Marcus Early Childhood Center located at 2669 N Richards St. in Milwaukee.

St. Marcus is participating in the Community Eligibility Program, which means that all student will be able to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at no charge, regardless of family income.

St. Marcus is able to participate in the U.S. Department of Agriculture program, which is federally funded because of its high percentage of students who come from low-income households. Last year, 89% of St. Marcus students were eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.

This school year marks the first year Wisconsin schools are eligible to participate in the Community Eligibility Program.
