"Someone was hit by a van:" 911 calls released after husband hits & kills wife in Mequon Sendik`s lot
MEQUON (WITI) -- 911 calls have been released in connection with a fatal incident that occurred last Tuesday, March 17th in the parking lot of the Sendik's store in Mequon. Police say 85-year-old Lorraine Winter was struck by a vehicle driven by her husband, 87-year-old Henry Winter.
Officials say Lorraine Winter died from "multiple blunt force injuries. She was struck by a vehicle just after 3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 16th.
Lorraine's 87-year-old husband, Henry Winter was driving the vehicle. He is in the hospital, as police say it appears he had some sort of medical event which led to this tragedy.
911 calls from this incident were released one week later -- on Tuesday, March 24th.
Dispatcher: “So, what’s going on?”
Caller: “So someone was hit by a van.”
Dispatcher: “Yeah.”
Caller: “She’s laying on the ground bleeding.”
Dispatcher: “You told me that. Is anyone attending to her?”
Caller: “Yes, there’s three people.”
Dispatcher: “She is bleeding quite profusely but um, not conscious at this time. Still unconscious.”

Caller: “A van was out of control and a woman was hit in the parking lot. She’s on the ground not moving.”
Dispatcher: “Any witnesses?”
Caller: “There’s a lot. She’s moving. We need an ambulance.”

Caller: “We are at the Mequon Book store – where the Sendik’s shopping center is.”
Dispatcher: “Yup. What’s the problem.”
Caller: “A van just went over the curve and hit something else and there is people in it.” Actually, it looks like they have someone down on the pavement too.”
Dispatcher: “Okay, okay. I will get somebody there shortly.”
Police say the vehicle Henry Winter was driving struck five parked vehicles while operating in reverse. Winter then apparently accelerated forward -- striking his wife along with several other parked vehicles.
Lorraine Winter died at the scene.
