Sentencing hearing set for mother accused of fleeing to Japan with young daughter

MILWAUKEE COUNTY (WITI) -- A 46-year-old Shorewood woman, accused of fleeing to Japan with her young daughter back in 2008 now has a sentencing hearing scheduled in the case against her.

Emiko Inoue was charged with two felonies in a case filed in 2011: interfering with custody beyond visitation and interfering with child custody - other parent.

Deferred prosecution was ordered for Inoue in November of 2011.

In court on Tuesday, December 23rd, it was found that Inoue has complied with the Deferred Prosecution Agreement. The charges filed against Inoue haven't been amended at this time.

A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for April 9th, 2015.

It was right around Christmas 2011 when Moises Garcia was reunited with his young daughter, Karina Garcia.

Inoue is accused of fleeing to her native Japan with the girl in 2008, shortly after Moises Garcia filed for divorce.
