Ridge Community church collects dresses for girls to be "a Cinderella like every girls fantasy"

GREENFIELD (WITI) -- Dresses of all colors, styles, and sizes on racks at the Ridge Community Church are just a few of the gowns Mia Risch and her friends will be choosing from in anticipation of an exciting night.

"Being a Cinderella like every girls fantasy being that princess that everyone stares at," said Risch.

For the very first time, the church is putting on a prom for people with special needs.

"You don't realize just how full your heart can be until you're in these situations where you see the joy on someone elses face," said A Night to Remember Prom Director Sadie Baile.

Anyone in Southeast Wisconsin age 15 - 24 is invited.

But the church wants to give those attending a VIP experience, so the community is being asked to donate dresses.

They're looking for dresses sizes 0 - 30 anything from bridesmaid dresses to prom dresses.

"We want to have a good variety so each girl can pick out the dress that they really want that catches their eye," said Baile.

The dresses will be collected through April 24th.

"At the end of April, we're doing a dress shopping event where they actually get to come and pick out a dress. And then we'll have seamstresses available so they can get alterations done," said Baile.

On the big day, everyone will get their hair and makeup done for free along with a limo ride to the event.

"We'll have a red carpet rolled out and the biggest serving opportunity is for volunteers 300 - 500 volunteers to come that day to just cheer for them as they arrive," said Baile.

Creating memories for Risch and her best friends that they'll never forget.

A Night to Remember prom will be held at the Ridge Community Church on Saturday, May 30th.
