Republic Airways could be looking to sell Frontier Airlines
Frontier Airlines could soon be back on the market. The current owner of Frontier Airlines, Republic Airways, is looking at selling the airline now, or spinning it off to current shareholders.
Either way, Republic plans to return to its roots of flying regional jets under separate names for major airlines.
Republic bought Denver-based Frontier out of bankruptcy protection, and merged it with Midwest in 2009.
Republic has been working to turn around Frontier's financial troubles, by getting rid of smaller planes, and cutting unprofitable flights.
