Rep. Kind trails Wis. GOP colleagues in net worth

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Democratic Congressman Ron Kind has released his financial disclosures, and they trail behind his Republican colleagues in Wisconsin while remaining level with Democratic Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin.

Most of the financial assets Kind disclosed, according to a report from the La Crosse Democrat, are in brokerage and retirement accounts. Their values range from $1,001 to $15,000 each.

Overall, he says his assets are worth between $600,000 and $1.6 million, less than what U.S. Republican Reps. Paul Ryan and Tom Petri reported. It is more in line with Baldwin's asset worth.

By law, Congressional members are required to release annual reports that show their stock transactions, liabilities, and assets. They are only required to list the value of their assets in broad ranges, which makes specific comparisons between politicians' assets difficult.
