RECALLED: Snack sticks from Rivers Edge Market, sold in southern Wisconsin

MADISON (WITI) –The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP)—Division of Food Safety along with Rivers Edge Market, a Jefferson, Wisconsin establishment, is issuing a regional recall for an undetermined amount of snack sticks that bear a false mark of inspection.

This recall is initiated based on evidence collected during an investigation conducted by state health officials at this establishment. Evidence shows that the facility applied a mark of inspection to products, but those products were not produced with the benefit of inspection by state officials as required by law.

Products subject to this recall include the following:


    Products were sold throughout southern Wisconsin at more than 17 different outlets prior to December 10th, 2014.

    Rivers Edge Market has voluntarily recalled and is working with DATCP to collect all product from affected retail outlets.  All products were vacuum-packed.  Some products may be labeled with a legend, or stamp, in the shape of Wisconsin containing the following statement:  “WIS DEPT. AGR. INSPECTED 103” or “WI Dept. AGR 103.”

    This recall does not include any product sold at the Rivers Edge Market retail store in Jefferson, Wisconsin.  No illnesses have been reported as a result of consuming these products. Anyone with signs or symptoms of foodborne illness should contact a physician.

    Consumers who have any of these products can return them to the original place of purchase or discard them.
