Ramp reopens after tanker overturns in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN (WITI) -- An overturned tanker truck temporarily closed down an on-ramp to I-43 South in Sheboygan on Friday afternoon, September 12th. The ramp was reopened shortly after 4 p.m.

The semi-tractor and tanker trailer overturned onto its passenger side along the shoulder of the on-ramp around 12:20 p.m. The vehicle was traveling westbound on Highway 28 at the time of the accident.

The tanker was carrying approximately 6,000 gallons of waste treatment water. Although the tanker was not damaged, around 100 gallons of the water was leaked into a nearby ditch through a fill cap on the top of the vehicle.

The leaked contents are being transferred to another truck before the overturned semi is removed from the scene.

The driver of the overturned tanker sustained minor injuries. The incident is still under investigation.
