Racine man tased, taken into custody following fight in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- The Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to the 2200 block of Mead Street around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 21st for a report of a large group of people fighting.

Upon arrival, officers were able to locate an individual involved in the fight near the intersection of Mead St and 22nd St.

While talking with the individual, identified as 42-year-old Stephan Williams of Racine, he pulled away from officers and began running north on Mead Street.

After a short foot chase, officers caught up to Williams and attempted to place him into custody. Williams continued to resist arrest and a taser was deployed to gain compliance.

He was then taken into custody.
