Purdue busing students to West Bend for Andrew Boldt's funeral

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WITI) — Purdue University on Tuesday, January 28th will be providing charter buses for students who want to attend funeral services in West Bend for Andrew Boldt, who died in a shooting that took place on campus last Tuesday, January 21st.

Buses will begin loading around noon in an area between Cary Quadrangle and Ross-Ade Stadium and will depart at 12:30 p.m.

A visitation and funeral will be held Tuesday, January 28th at Saint Frances Cabrini Church for 21-year-old Andrew Boldt.

The visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated for Andrew at 7:00 p.m.  Friends from Purdue University, Marquette University High School, and West Bend communities are all welcome to attend.

Additionally, the Boldt family has requested help from parishioners in donating items for a gathering after the funeral Mass in the Church Hall. Items needed include: 2-liter soda bottles, bottled water, cookies and bars.

Items can be dropped off in the Church Hall kitchen from 3:00 – 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A scholarship has been created in Boldt’s honor — and donations are being accepted for that scholarship fund. The fund will be used to provide financial assistance to eighth-grade students of Catholic parishes in Washington County who desire to attend Marquette University High School or Divine Savior Holy Angels High School.

Awards will be given to those who exemplify the character and spirit of Boldt — carrying on his legacy of excellence.

Checks can be made payable to Saint Frances Cabrini Parish, with “Boldt Scholarship” in the memo line.

Boldt was shot and killed at Purdue University on Tuesday. Boldt was shot and killed inside Purdue’s electrical engineering building. Police say 23-year-old Cody Cousins is the man who pulled the trigger.
