Public meeting set for WIS 83 resurfacing in Waukesha County

WAUKESHA CO. (WITI) -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is conducting a public information meeting to discuss the planned roadway improvements to WIS 83, from WIS 167 to Monroe Avenue in the town of Erin and city of Hartford.

The meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 19 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Town of Erin Town Hall, 1846 State Highway 83 South, Hartford. The meeting will be conducted in an open house format with project staff available to discuss the project and answer questions you may have.

WIS 83 was last milled and resurfaced with only a new upper layer of asphalt pavement in 2009. This project mills off and places a new thicker layer of asphalt pavement that incorporates centerline and shoulder rumble strips, and provides a wider paved shoulder to accommodate pedestrian and bicycle users.

WIS 83 is expected to be completed in one construction season, and will be open to traffic during construction using a flagging operation. Construction is not currently scheduled, but will likely be sometime after 2019.

You are invited and encouraged to attend this meeting, to ask questions and to provide input on this project.  Preliminary plans and project exhibits will be on display at the meeting for your review and project personnel will be available to discuss the improvements with you on an individual basis.  Your attendance and comments are appreciated.

The meeting location is wheelchair accessible. Citizens who are hearing impaired may request an interpreter via the Wisconsin Telecommunication Relay System (dial 711).
