Milwaukee Common Council President Ashanti Hamilton, says the event had a much bigger meaning beyond the party.

"Even though we've got some challenges that we're facing this summer, we're trying to make sure that we take the time out to highlight the young people like we got out here today," Hamilton said.

To help keep the city's youth focused on the positive things the community, Hamilton is calling out 500 fathers to join the cause.

A kickoff event will be held on June 17th and 12:00 p.m., at Milwaukee's Moody Park located at 2200 W Burleigh St.
