Police sergeant sustains minor injuries after rollover crash

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A 30-year-old Milwaukee Police sergeant suffered minor injuries during a rollover accident early Friday morning, June 21st.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. near the intersection of 12th and Highland as the officer was responding to an emergency call.

The officer was travelling northbound on N. 12th Street with his emergency lights and siren activated when another vehicle proceeded into the intersection against a red light.

The squad car struck a curb and rolled over, temporarily trapping the sergeant inside.  He was conveyed to a local hospital and was treated for minor cuts and bruising.  He is in good condition and has been released.

The driver of the other vehicle, identified as Calvin Jeans III, 30 years-of age, fled the scene on foot and is being sought by the Milwaukee Police Department for several traffic offenses.
